While Magaluf may be known for its all-year sun and thriving party scene, it has to be said that its beaches are some of the best the region has to offer. With its white sands and glimmering warm waters, you’ll be spoilt for choice here – but here are a few of our favourite beaches.

Magaluf Beach

It may not be imaginatively named, but this leading beach simply has it all. With its crystal waters, and sandy coastline, Magaluf Beach is a family-friendly spot for good reason. The beach stretches for 900 metres, while the new and stylish promenade boasts independent boutiques, bars and restaurants.

Those interested in their watersports should particularly head here, as there are opportunities to indulge in some water skiing, banana-riding, jetskiing and paragliding.

Interestingly, this spot was actually once unhealthy marshland and water, used by pirates and smugglers who would hide themselves and their treasure from policing forces. Just off the coast is Porrassa, an islet that was the refuge for the fleet of King James I when he landed here in 1229.

Palma Nova Beach

Palma nova

Running from Punta Nadala to Punta Marroig, this popular hotspot offers a wide range of facilities. The main difference here is that it’s much more family orientated, while it is a firm favourite among Brits.

Palma Nova is actually split into three separate beaches: Playa de Son Maties, Cala Blanca and Es Carregador – all of which boast cyan waters, white fine sand and a shallow sea perfect for children. The best stretch for water sports is Cala Blanca. All three beaches are connected by the Passage de la Mar, a fantastic promenade that features international restaurants and bustling bars.

Son Matias Beach

This stretch may border Magaluf but it is still within walking distance to both Palma Nova and Magaluf Beach. It is another great option if you are looking for something a bit away from the heavy crowds. Facilities include showers, bars and restaurants next to beach, supermarkets less than 100 metres away, lounge chairs, parasols and pedal boats.

Cala Vinyes

And if it is complete seclusion you are looking for, this patch two kilometres south of Magaluf is your best bet. Generally, there has not been much tourist development here, so you can enjoy fewer crowds, and the idyllic shelter offered by the palm trees. Combine this with the spectacular cliff surrounding it and you have pretty much your own slice of paradise to yourself. You can here here via the number 107 bus from Magaluf.
